Northern Lights Alpine Kitchen BANFF

Lunch at Northern Lights Alpine Kitchen, perched high atop Sulphur Mountain in Banff, was the perfect interlude to our summit ridge adventure—an experience that unfolded nearly 2,500 meters above sea level. After taking in the crisp alpine air and panoramic vistas, sitting down to a warm meal felt like a well-earned reward.

The buffet offered a solid selection of comforting staples and seasonal specials, thoughtfully prepared and satisfying after a morning spent among the clouds. But let’s be honest—no dish, however well-crafted, could compete with the views. Towering peaks stretched endlessly in every direction, and the ever-changing light played across the landscape like a living painting.

And then there’s the gondola ride—an experience in itself. Gliding smoothly over rugged terrain, ascending into the vastness above the tree line, and later descending through layers of mountain mist—it was nothing short of magical. While the food was good, it’s the journey to the summit and the unforgettable scenery that will stay with us far longer than the flavors.
